Professor Ian Coyle has qualifications/experience in Clinical and Forensic Psychology, Psychopharmacology, Human Factors Engineering and Ergonomics. He has published extensively in these areas. He is a Fellow of the College of Forensic Psychology of the Australian Psychological Society, Academic Member of the College of Clinical Psychology of the Australian Psychological Society, Adjunct Professor, School of Psychology and Public Health and School of Law, La Trobe University. Adjunct Professor, Thomas More Law School, Australian Catholic University, Distinguished Alumnus, La Trobe University.
A well-published author in various academic disciplines, Professor Coyle has authored, co-authored or supervised the preparation of some 15,000 reports and given evidence in the Supreme and District Courts in the ACT, NSW, Victoria and Queensland as well as internationally. He has been giving evidence in these jurisdictions for 42 years. He has regularly given evidence with and against psychiatrists in civil and criminal matters. The High Court of Australia has explicitly accepted his expertise.
